‘Haegin’: a metaverse game developer

Storm Ventures has completed the Series B round investment of Haegin, a Korean metaverse game developer. Storm Ventures also participated in Series A and is happy to announce the follow-up investments!

In this round, existing investors including Storm, BonAngels, Kona Venture Partners and newly joined Kakao Games and Neptune, the Netmarble, Korea Development Bank, Lotte Ventures, NetEase, and VNG have joined the investment.

Haegin was established by Com2uS co-founder, Lee Young-il. Storm invested in Com2uS in 2005, and the company has since been listed on the KOSDAQ as a mobile game company. CEO Lee took the development lead on Com2uS’s global programs including: ‘Summoners War: Arena in the Sky’, ‘Golf Star’, ‘God of Fishing’, ‘Home Run Battle’, and ‘Com2uS Professional Baseball’.

In 2017, Young-il founded ‘Haegin’ and the company has grown through successful global games of ‘Home Run Clash’, ‘Overdogs’, ‘Extreme Golf’, and ‘Play Together’. ‘ Play Together’, a casual metaverse game that launched last year, has received an explosive response in Vietnam and Taiwan since its release. Currently, the game has over 80 million global downloads and has achieved 4 million DAU.

‘Play Together’ is a mobile metaverse game where anyone from around the world can meet, talk and play games within the virtual world ‘Kaia Island’. In one world, you can make new friends and invite them to your space to spend time together, as well as enjoy various contents within the game.

‘Play Together’ is rapidly expanding the metaverse world and contents by adding collaboration with external partners to its own metaverse game development capabilities. Users can visit the Line Virtual Store and 7-Eleven convenience store within ‘Play Together’, as well as participate in concerts with musical artists. The world is expected to become wider and deeper in the future, with a feature to sign MOUs with Dot-mill to build an NFT gallery.

In addition to the growth of existing games, Haegin is also developing new games in the sports and RPG fields with the goal to release this year. Storm is looking forward to Haegin’s global expansion and strengthening its position as global game developer.
